Phenotype
Both gup1-1 and gup2-1 (stocck number N226) have no clear phenotype when grown in soil. When grown in vitro, both exhibit epinastic growth of leaves. Root growth is slightly more sensitive to IAA inhibition of elongation. Both gup1-1 and gup2-1 lead to enhanced kanamycin resistance in the AIR1-8 background via an nptII gene under control of a tobacco GST promoter . gup1-1 also shows an increased mRNA level of GST5 from Arabidopsis (designated At103-1a in van der Kop et. al. 1999).
